Gavin came to us as an abandoned horse in poor condition - he was about a 3 on the Henneke scale, a stallion at the time and no one ever looked for him. He is about five years old and has done very well in his foster home, has proven to have good manners and is good with other horses. He accepts a bridle and saddle with no problem and has been sat on with no reaction. The daughter of his first foster (who got him back in condition physically and took care of the gelding transport and care) did get on him and said he can be ridden but essentially knows nothing so had to be plow-horse reigned to get him to go in any direction. He has not been ridden other than that. He loads/unloads and rides in a trailer easily. He is also good with donkeys, goats and dogs, no issues. He is a rather nervous fella at sudden movements easier to approach from his left than his right (no vision problems) in the stall. When in the pasture he does not, however, let you get near him though the longer he is there the more curious he is becoming and is moving closer to see what is going on when loose in the pasture. But once in the stall he can be haltered easily even dips his head for that but it is best to move calmly as he does seem very nervous if you move too quick or are loud. If you even act like you want a hoof he lifts his leg no issues at all with that. So, he likely has a lot of potential in the right hands. He has turned into a handsome fella and seem to move well, no physical problems of any kind. His adoption fee is $350.
